Credit points for CDE program through online registration – Continuing Dental Education
Accreditation Points for Continuous Dental Education Programme – Compulsory Implementation Process for Year 2011 & onwards.

Reference: Relevant guidelines on section 2(a) to 2(i) on Continuing Dental Regulation 2007 as approved by the General Body of the Dental Council of India at its meeting held on 25th and 26th April 2008 and approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi vide their letter No. V.12016/1/2006-DE Dated 18/02/2009.
Activities for continuing Dental Education are undertaken by State Dental Council to maintain, improve and broaden knowledge and skills of Dental Surgeon to keep their professional expertise up-to-date and in line with current developments and thereby enhance the quality of care provided to the patients.

A system of Continuing Dental Education is being introduced for dental surgeons registered within the sovereign Republic of India. The said requirement of mandatory CDE points would be a prerequisite to being registered and licensed to pursue the Profession of Dentistry in India.
All registered Dental Surgeons would need to accomplish 150 points in 5 years (30 points of CDE per year). Out of these 30, 4 CDE points per year would be mandatory and verifiable.
It will be essential to achieve a minimum 15 and a maximum of 25 points a year. 10 points for asepsis and infection control and 5 points for dental jurisprudence over a period of 5 years are mandatory.
Effective w.e.f. 01 June, 2009 (to be reviewed subsequently at the end of 5 years).
The Award of Credit Points Would be as Follows:
- Full day lecture or conference – 6 CDE points
- Half day lecture or workshop – 3 CDE points
- Evening product introduction / lecture business meeting – 2 CDE points
- 45 minutes lecture with 15 minutes Q & A – 1 CDE point
The system of assessment is to be based on a self declaration format to be submitted to the respective Registrar of the State Dental Council every year. Certificate of Attendance from Provider to be submitted to the State Dental Council during renewal of registration. Preferred providers: Indian Dental Association, Dental Colleges and Defense Services. A random audit system would be used to monitor the implementation. The CDE implementation would be valid for a period of 5 years for each dentist (upto the age of 65 years).
